Welcome

Wayne State was the first university in the state of Michigan to receive a SAMHSA grant for training students in Screening Brief Intervention Referral to Treatment (SBIRT), which is an integrated, public health approach to delivering early intervention and treatment services for persons with or at risk of developing substance use disorders. SBIRT is designed for use in primary care centers, hospital emergency rooms, trauma centers and other community settings that are a person's first, and sometimes only, contact with the health care system. On this website you can access SBIRT screening resources, brief intervention tools, patient resources and training materials. We encourage you to view the SBIRT Introduction video below and take advantage of our free online SBIRT training to receive two free Continuing Education credits.
